Beyond Divinity is a role playing game, as the second installment of Divine Divinity.
During a battle against a necromancer, you're projected in a parallel dimension where chaos and desolation rule. At this moment, a Darkness Knight come to announce you that his soul has been linked to yours when you arrived on these unknown lands. As a pretty uncomfortable situation both for him and for you, you have to find the way to get free from this curse during the quest to reach again your origin world, without forgetting that the death of one lead to the other's.
With a great story, a impressive set of items and a well-developed skills tree, this is the ultimate mix for a must-have RPG which should appeal to everyone !

Not as good as Divine Divinity. They added 3D models for the characters, which in turn made the combat much slower and more clunky. They kept the 2D styled backgrounds for the maps. The PC's and NPC's in Divine Divinity look so much better too, it's just another example of how 2D can look so much better than 3D. You can customize your character to your liking with hair-do's and weight and varios other things, but no matter what you do, none of it looks better than the pre-made ones in Divine Divinity. The Dark Knight you get tied to tends to get annoying with his voice, and he has a lot to say. They tried to make the Dark Knight sound evil, but it starts to weigh on the ears after not so long. They also took away the PC voice from Divine Divinity, which I liked, even though it was used sparingly. The music is good as Divine Divinity, done by the same person, so it has the same quality. In the end they changed things that made the first Divine Divinity so great, which only left a decent action CRPG in Beyond Divinity.
