Need more of Streets of Rage 4? Check out our dev diaries!

The Streets of Rage 4 development is coming to its end and the release is only a couple weeks away! During the process, we asked our programmers, artists, producers and musicians to talk about the game, their work on it and the whole philosophy behind the project.
If you can’t wait to play Streets of Rage 4 (we understand, we cannot wait to have you playing it either!) why not checking out around 30 minutes of videos and get to know us more?
You can see below 3 videos « Behind the Scene », describing the gameplay, the art and the music.

Behind the Gameplay:
Meet Jordi Asensio (Streets of Rage 4 game designer), Cyrille Lagarigue and Beausoleil Samson-Guillemette (Streets of Rage programmers) and learn how their shared passion for beat-em-ups led to Streets of Rage 4’s creation. Reflecting on inspirations, key learnings, and how Streets of Rage 2 is the benchmark they’re holding the revival’s exhilarating brawls to, the team is more candid about the game’s development than ever before.

Behind the Art:
The video, led by Lizardcube’s Art & Creative Director Ben Fiquet and Lead Background Artist Julian Nguyen You, explores the extraordinary level of detail Lizardcube is bringing to Streets of Rage 4’s bustling city along with a bold style emphasizing linework and movement. Lizardcube’s vision incorporates fresh additions and a distinctive feel while upholding the series’ signature neon-soaked urban aesthetic – and even adds in elements once planned for the original Streets of Rage 2, including a car barreling onto the screen and crashing into players.

Behind the Music:
Olivier Derivière, the talent behind soundtracks for A Plague Tale: Innocence, Assassin’s Creed IV: Black Flag, Dying Light 2 and more, is serving as Streets of Rage 4’s main composer with support from an roster of international guest musicians. Streets of Rage 4 will also include new contributions from Scattle (Hotline Miami 1 & 2), Das Mörtal (Hotline Miami 2), XL Middleton, and Groundislava. Derivière’s musical vision echoes the philosophy at the heart of Streets of Rage 4: infusing the timeless, classic elements of the original Streets of Rage games with a modern approach to gameplay, art and design, channeling the nostalgic glory of the genre-defining beat-em-ups through the music of series composers Yūzō Koshiro and Motohiro Kawashima, along with featured Japanese composers, while instilling a unique spirit throughout Streets of Rage 4 via Western artists and Derivière’s sonic creations.

Streets of Rage 4 is the series’ first mainline entry in more than 25 years, reuniting Axel, Blaze, Adam, and introducing new fighters a decade after the events of Streets of Rage 2. With devastating new combat abilities, fluid animation, and original music from franchise composers Yūzō Koshiro (Streets of Rage 1, 2, & 3, Sonic the Hedgehog), Motohiro Kawashima (Streets of Rage 2 & 3, Shinobi II) and a renowned team of contributing musicians, Streets of Rage 4 celebrates the iconic series’ past while offering an inventive, skull-crackling brawl all its own.
